My son was in a natural resources program a few years back and warned us about living anywhere west of the Mississippi (except maybe the Pacific Northwet) due to the potential for future water shortages...

Agreed. What's magical about the US/Mexico border? Arizona is already seeing water shortages. Same with Southern California.

And why isn't Australia red? They are in a multiyear drought now.

I've seen a separate map of Australia that indicates that the water shortage is in a very narrow band along the southeast coast. Of course, that's where all the people are.

I feel like this map would have been more useful with political lines removed completely and colour added where it needed to be rather than by country.
