Amanda, you can still use the shield, just use it with a mask:
The shields are said to be helpful in protecting the eyes and serve as a further preventative to keep you from touching your face. But they are not meant to *replace* masks, only to supplement them.

P*D what about a mask with a see-through panel? Are you anticipating having a hearing-impaired student? Has your institution given any guidance about that specifically?

Thanks, Steve. I appreciate the PSA. I got my order of face shields last week, and since then I have been using both a shield and a mask whenever a mask is needed. Fingers crossed!

If you do a google image search for "clear face mask" or "face mask for the Deaf" you can see various types. Yes, the concern about them being hot is one I have seen... So are you expecting to be teaching with only a shield, or will you wear an actual cloth mask?
