We are all visitors to this time, this place. We are just passing through. Our purpose here is to observe, to learn, to grow, to love… and then we return home. - Australian Aboriginal proverb

That picture reminds me of an incident that occurred when my wife and I were dating. She had a roommate, Paula, at the time and they had two cats, Amos and Andy.

One day, she was going to make a dinner with a round steak for her and me. She took the steak out of the freezer to defrost before going to work. She put it on a plate that she then put inside a cabinet above the refrigerator and closed the cabinet door to make sure the cats didn't get into it.

That was not sufficient. When we arrive at her house, we found the empty styrofoam tray and wrapper from the steak on the kitchen floor along with the round bone from the steak. Over the course of the day, the two cats had gotten atop the refrigerator, tugged the cabinet door open, dragged the steak out onto the floor, and eaten every bit of the meat.

With nothing left for dinner, we went out to eat. While we were gone, Paula came home. She had some ground beef, but it had been in the fridge for a few days and she wasn't sure it was still good, so she broke off a piece and offered to Amos and Andy. Having consumed an entire round steak, they weren't interested, so Paula concluded that the ground beef was bad and threw it away. With that, those two cats had cost everyone their dinners.
