Back when Lisa was posting about something eating her house, I think I wrote that we were having a similar problem, except ours was the pillars on our front porch. We tried hot mustard but it never seemed to be effective for very long....

So Mr. SK repaired the damage and repainted the pillars (which, btw, look amazing, I should ask if he has any before photos). And then, in the hopes of preventing new damage, he did this:

Originally we bought the toy reptiles because I thought it might help to scare critters away. But then I heard about bird spikes, so those are the real deterrent, but we already had the toys so Mr. SK added those too.

ROTFLMAO

Oh, dear. I saw the pics and I thought: snakes are eating your pillars? What kinds of snakes are those? And bird spikes are keeping them away?

PJ, Ole

BL, Mr. SK just put them out yesterday so it’s too soon to tell. But I had a package delivered today, so at least one person in town probably thinks were crazy. WhoMe

Hilarious! Maybe it will become a local fad to put rubber reptiles out to greet your visitors.

To me, the real question is -- do we now have to leave these out forever???

I imagine we'll get rid of the plastic reptiles eventually, but what about the spikes?? They're not especially attractive... Blink

Interesting. I haven't done anything about our critters and I haven't noticed any new gnaw marks. I would like to figure out how to set up a camera but our summer is insane and I'm not sure I'll get around to it any time soon. Those do look intimidating for sure - I wonder if they would work. Do they just sit there or do they glue down or what?
