I love these kinds of lists.

The Germans seem to have a lot of these "rich" words....

This Japanese slang term describes the experience of seeing a woman who appears pretty from behind but not from the front.

OMG Japan is filled with these!

Yes I get that that is a sexist and superficial comment. But still....

I only know one of those words - “Uffda”

My Minnesota relatives use it when they encounter something that smells bad, and now that I know it means “sorry you hurt yourself” it makes perfect sense. Smiler

39. SHOUGANAI (JAPANESE)

It’s a little bit like “Que será, será,” but with a slight spin: If there’s nothing you can do about it, don’t waste time being angry or worrying.
In Russian, they say "nichevo" which literally means "nothing", to mean "there's nothing anyone can do about it, so let's move on."

-"I went to three stores and none of them had any eggs."
-"Nichevo." (implying we'll just make do without them)

-"I dropped my earbud on the tracks in the subway just as the train was coming."
-"Nichevo" (more or less "tough sh*t")

Hygge is a big deal in knitting circles. And there’s an apartment building by that name here in PDX, too.
