Things are stable here in my town; no new cases and no new quarantines that I'm aware of.

I went to the grocery store and the place was a ghost town as far as people are concerned. Usually Thursday afternoon is pretty busy.

Wondering if people are just making it a point to stay home, or to shop in nearby towns.

It was really weird.

First thing I did when I got home was sing Happy Birthday a couple of times... Wink

Chicago was holding pretty steady, maybe one additional case every few days. Bigger jump today, with four in one day, all associated with one of the other cases.

They are being pretty aggressive with school closings, even when there has just been a case of someone associated with the school being exposed to, rather than positively diagnosed with, the virus.

American College of Cardiology cancelled their annual meeting today.

And the governor issued a disaster proclamation today.

We decided to vote by mail rather than going to a polling place. We're just laying low and hoping not to contribute to the problem.

Discretion is the better part of valor.

8 more cases today, some first cases in a couple of the collar counties. It's spreading out a bit.

Six more cases today.

Not surprising; they said the numbers might take a couple of weeks to go up after the initial ones.

Plus they're still not doing a lot of testing.

The nursing home case is clearly worrisome.

We're also spreading out from Chicago and moving into central and southern Illinois.

Something that never occurred to me.

The Illinois Tollway will implement all-electronic tolling temporarily as a precaution to prevent the spread of coronavirus, officials announced Friday...

Over the next 24 hours, toll booths at mainline toll plazas will be taken offline and automatic toll payment machines at ramp and plazas will be deactivated, officials said. Maintenance staff, incident management personnel and HELP truck drivers will remain on duty.

Governor got really pissed yesterday when he saw all the people in bars yesterday celebrating St Patrick's Day.

Today he says he's considering closing all bars and restaurants because people are ignoring recommendations on gatherings.

To be honest, what happened yesterday doesn't surprise me. They cancelled the St Patrick's Day parade days ago and I figured people would just head directly for the bars even if the parade wasn't happening.

I thought he should have closed everything on Friday.

All bars and restaurants in Illinois close effective tomorrow night.

I wonder if my little bakery (which also has a cafe) will close down. I feel so badly for her. She opened a year and a half ago and has been doing so well. I hope this doesn't break her.

29 more cases in the last day; we're up over 90. Numbers going up quickly.
