I thought my book was defective..
...but it turns out to be a novel design for a bookcover and results in a bonus bookmark.

The book is pretty interesting. There was a project to interview a number of Lithuanians who fled their native country during WWII. They selected eighteen of the interviews and edited them. The book was originally published in Lithuanian and was subsequently translated into English.

Both my mom and dad (they weren't married then) fled their native country and their stories mirror what happened to a lot of the interviewees. Over the years I heard bits and pieces of my parents' individual stories, but never an "end to end" telling of their years as displaced persons. This book really helps give me a better picture of what they went through.

edit: More a summary than a book review, but for those interested:

It would be even cooler to devise a book title whose torn-off letters made a new word or phrase. Similar to Mad magazine fold-ins.

Oh ... I thought you were going to complain about the book not allowing you to scroll or swipe or enlarge the font size.
