Interesting speculation from David French-

Alito would have been assigned to write it by Thomas. Why would Thomas not write it himself? Perhaps he’s writing a concurring opinion stating abortion should be outlawed nationwide under the 14th amendment.

In the keep you up at night category, Alito inserted this into the opinion:

This is overly broad and imprecise, and my concern is that it leaves open the opportunity to overturn other things that SCOTUS or its politicized minions have determined are not "deeply rooted in the Nation's history and traditions."

You know, things like LGBTQ+ rights, social security, voting rights, welfare, disability payments, etc.

I'm guessing the only rights that the righties consider "deeply rooted in the Nation's history and traditions" are free speech (in an Elon Musk sort of way), "religious freedom" (that is, freedom to persecute people who aren't your religion), and having all the guns you want.

I’ve seen people fretting about that but I’ve seen others that say it’s no dog whistle, just substantive due process boilerplate.
