Venezuelan Navy Ship Rams German ...

Cruise Ship and Sinks Itself

I thought this might be an April Fool's Joke, but no. A 260 foot Spanish-built Venezuelan frigate fired on and then rammed a German cruise ship north of Venezuela. The frigate shattered its own hull, essentially sinking itself!

The cruise ship was designed for the Antarctic and had an armor-reinforced bow! The German ship then blithely sailed on to Curacao as planned, apparently little damaged. The Venezuelans were left to splutter and vent. At least no one died.

Apparently the cruise ship aggressively rammed the destroyer well inside Venezuelan waters. Apparently the cruise ship might have been carrying mercenaries to attach Venezuela.

I could not keep from laughing while telling Mr. SK about this story. He agreed with WTG about th connection between the Venezuelan ship and the CA train conductor.
