How bad is your air quality?

Steve MillerHow bad is your air quality?
We missed it the first time around but right now the AQI sits at
258 279.

It looks outside like a fog settled in and smells like fire.

ShiroKuroI'm in central IL right now. It's
awful here. Yesterday, it was hazy but didn't bother me, but today, it smells bad, my eyes are still burning and stinging after being outside for less than 5 minutes.
The weather pages says the AQI is 247.
Hopefully it will be better tomorrow!

dolmansaxlilFrom 363 this morning down to 87 now. It was really bad for awhile. We are still in school so recess has to be cancelled.

wtgThat's pretty awful, dol. Glad that the air has cleared out in your neck of the woods.
I went out briefly to run an errand and wore an N95 mask. My eyes are burning if I go outside for very long, and eye drops aren't helping much. Predictions are that we should see some improvement later today/tonight. I'll welcome it.

piquéone reason we had been considering leaving montana is because of the annual smoke fest here with the forest fires. guess there is no escape. we've had a very unusual year so far--lots of rain every day and sweet-smelling air. the grass in our pasture is up to my shoulders.
i'm sure it will be smoky enough come august.
my sympathies.

DanielThere was a hurricane in Hawaii and my town got put on lock down by the state and feds. The belt road was blocked north and south of it.
Power lines had fallen over and started a fire higher up the mountain. The town caught on fire and seven houses burned to the ground.
We didn't get out in time. We didn't predict the fire.
There were hurricane force winds blowing smoke through the house. It was so thick you could see it blowing back and forth.
I was very sick and drained of energy the next morning. I also felt at the mercy of nature. I felt as if my existence had been threatened because that's what happened.
It was a
terrible experience.
I am sorry this is happening to you all and hope it stops very soon.

I'd like to see the fire on a map if anyone has one to hand. It must be massive.

Piano*DadOur current AQI is 146. Not good. It doesn't really look bad outside, but the air does smell faintly of smoke. We'll see how things go over the next day or so.

ShiroKuroYep, we're at 146 today, so still unhealthy, but definitely an improvement from yesterday's 247!

RealPlayerAir quality index is 95 for NYC right now…may get somewhat worse as the day progresses.
But nothing like the sickly orange sky day we had a couple of weeks ago.
