Wabi-sabi
quote:
Japan’s Unusual Way to View the World
Wabi-sabi offers a refuge from the modern world’s obsession with perfection, and accepts imperfections as all the more meaningful – and, in their own way, beautiful.

It's a beautiful concept; I have often read about it in writings about Japanese ceramics.

In a similar vein, there is a concept called "beausage" (really a word-mashup between beauty and usage) that states that an object becomes more beautiful the more it is used. Your bicycle becomes more beautiful with a few scratches and dirty bar tape that it was when bramd-spanking new. It acquires personality.
