ZorbaThose may be for a small organ. When I was a kid, one of my neighbor's had a Baldwin grand that I'd go to play once in a while - it had a small keyboard like this one (but way shorter) that she told me was for an organ. Dunno if it worked or not...

ZorbaSurprised you haven't heard of the Janko. It seems to me that it was the equivilant of Betamax, Macintosh, Linux, or even the Dvorak typewriter keyboard - superior in every respect yet rejected by the marketplace.

rontunerI think all I'd seen before were microtonal-type keyboards, and only on electronic instruments, this is the first I've heard of these retro-fit actions!

I've never heard a reporoducing piano. Has anyone here heard one? Are they all that?

FrycekBe careful with that reproducing piano, OT. You don't have room in your house for a litter of baby pianos.

Square Piano, 1850
Maker: Chickering, Boston
SI photographs by Robert C. Lautman
Americans preferred square pianos in their homes until the 1870s when uprights came into fashion in the US. This instrument is similar to those used to accompany Jenny Lind at her concerts.

OperaTenorWhen it comes to square grands, Chickering wins the prettiest plate award, hands down.
