Prince Harry gives up his title...
and leaves the Royal Family with his wife Meghan Markle.

Huh?!

I used to pay attention to Charles, Diana, William, and Harry.

Some of us of a certain age were profoundly affected by that wedding and by Diana.

Of course I have come to realize that there are two sides to every story.

But Harry and Meghan have lost me (not in the sense I disapprove of them). It's just that I was vaguely following the birth of the children, etc. And I didn't see this coming.

Anyone have any thoughts or opinions?

Good for them. Let them be human beings instead of figureheads. And they chose the best place in the world to live. Harry chose love. I suspect life will be far easier for his family in his wife's world than in his own. I wouldn't put up with the racism they've been subjected to either.

Enough thoughts for you?

They didn't give up their titles. They agreed not to use them.

I read two YouTube comments. This was the second and it turned out to be true.

Wikipedia says:

"Titles, styles, and arms

Upon her marriage to Prince Harry, Meghan Markle became a princess of the United Kingdom entitled to the style of Royal Highness, as well as Duchess of Sussex, Countess of Dumbarton and Baroness Kilkeel.[142][143][144] She is styled as "Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Sussex",[145] and she is the first person to hold that title.[146] Following a decision to step back from royal duties, she and her husband have agreed that they will not use the style "Royal Highness" from early 2020, although they will still retain them.[147][148]"

Racism. The early (and continuing) press was horrible. But I knew it would probably be an institutional problem when Princess Michael showed up at the first Sandringham Christmas dinner wearing a blackamoor brooch.

There was a lot of hype about Meghan being the first black member to marry into the Royal Family.

Yet she wasn't the first. I recommend this Wikipedia link on Charlotte of Mecklenburg- Strelitz

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...Mecklenburg-Strelitz

And this link:

Of course Charlotte, NC was named after her, and people still blab on about was she/ wasn't she...

The flip side. I thought this might happen. It's not very appealing.

I guess the news he agreed not to use the HRH honorific was premature.

The Oprah pairing could be assumed but it's cringe worthy to me.
