Well local mgr and top tech showed up this morning to see if they could get the 'card' working again and get rid of the ugly box that sits on the table which is now where I need to entertain (no dining room table anymore).

Bing Bang Bung...

Done. This guy knew what he was doing. No problem finding the menu and number to call in but we still were getting a no signal response (Warning 202)

He unraveled that mystery pretty quickly. Under another menu ALL the check boxes were checked NO for each channel. He changed that and voila the card is working.

He set up my DVD player which I haven't used (new) in 05 since nothing else was working properly so now I can get netflix and watch some decent movies maybe this winter!

Somehow I still don't have faith that the pixelating will be gone and that the WARNING 203 won't come popping up but we'll see. It is a beginning anyway.

All this started in 2005 and has taken this long to straighten out.

BTW, normally a box like I had which had a record feature, would cost $16 mo. Cards started at $3 and have gone up some but I think I might not be charged for it now.

Bad on them that they took out two months payments out of my $911 refund and of course charged the old rate for them. They took out a month in advance before the date was even due. I complained about that but a check has already be cut for the $6oo something.

I have two office numbers to call if there is a problem still.

Rib cage still aches so I'll probably have to soon lie down and find something to watch. Nice day here and I would rather be outside with my helper cutting down some perennial beds. Damn.

It's always a pleasure when you have competent people working for (or with) you. ThumbsUp

I knew things would be different when you say "Bing Bang Bung," 'coz people usually say "Bing Bang Boom." The "Bung" made all the difference. Big Grin

We just bought a new DVD player--old one froze a lot--and decided to reach into the future a bit and get a blu-ray player with wireless capability. It can download movies from Netflix without a computer and get Pandora radio and all kinds of stuff we will never use....in short, it is complicated.

So after it sits around for a month in the box, I finally get around to hooking it up and it keeps spitting out the disks with "CAN'T READ DISK" messages. I wonder WTF I am doing wrong and try different cables and every setting there is and I FINALLY conclude after two hours that the thing is defective.

Fortunately I had the receipt (remember it sat in the box for a month) and BJ's has a liberal return policy, so we just brought it back and got another one just like it. We figured there was a 50/50 chance the new one would have the same issue and it was our fault for being too stupid to figure it out, but VOILA it works fine. It WAS defective.

These things have become so complicated you need help just getting them hooked up.

LL something tells me you did not have to wait 4 years.

Have you tried Pandora, Jack? Given your love for music and the way your taste run I think you'd really like it. It's free for the first year to boot.

Maybe try it on your computer first then figure out how to run it through the new player.

I was going for the sing sang sung rhyme!

Jack - yup I often have trouble with new equipment but this had been ongoing with comcast forever. Spent days at home with over a dozen techs here over the years. (also the same mgr has been out twice before) Now they admit their technology has improved as well as new wires on the streets fixed about a mile from here. I am at the end of the line.

Got tired of fighting it for a while and took a rest when they let me use the box but then when I was getting billed for both box and card and had to deal with the crap with those on the phone gave up again and only recently had the energy to start fighting again. Yes, they owed me $911 and sggested that their wires and technology had been updated recently.

I am watching with the card in tonight. Downside so far is no interactivity such as program channels and the up/down button on the remote isn't working so I have to program in each 707 770 by thumb. Grrrrr...

And I have to come to the computer to find out what is on. Grrrrr...

I'll try to deal with it though as the card frees up money to save towards piano lessons! And I don't have to have a box sitting on my breakfast table. Smiler

That new bluray player sounds great!

I wonder if I can download something from the computer on rewritable DVD's?
