Donald Trump has complained about new light bulbs which supposedly make him look orange and flushing toilets, during a rambling monologue.
At a small-business roundtable meeting, the president went off on a tangent about the bulbs and claimed people have to flush toilets 10 to 15 times because they “don’t get any water”.
“They got rid of the lightbulb that people got used to. The new bulb is many times more expensive and I hate to say it, it doesn’t make you look as good,” Mr Trump said.
“Of course, being a vain person, that’s very important to me. It’s like - it gives you an orange look. I don’t want an orange look.”
I think that ship has sailed, my friend...not to mention that it's the old-fashioned tungsten bulbs that give off yellow light. The newfangled LEDs are much whiter or bluer....

The cause of Mr Trump’s distinctive orange hue has been a much-discussed mystery of his appearance.
The official line from the White House is that Mr Trump simply has “good genes”, according to a New York Times report, but many people have suggested the president uses fake tan.
A Washington Post report published this week about undocumented workers employed at one of Mr Trump’s golf clubs offered a possible explanation.
In a section on his unusual requests for workers, the report said Mr Trump asks for two full containers and one half full container of white Tic Tacs in his bedroom at all times.
The Post added: “The same rule applied to the Bronx Colors-brand face makeup from Switzerland that Trump slathered on — two full containers, one half full — even if it meant the housekeepers had to regularly bring new shirts from the pro shop because of the rust-coloured stains on the collars.”
Soon after the article was published, Bronx Colors claimed the makeup was an orange Boosting Hydrating Concealer and offered customers a special deal on the product to celebrate the Post’s story.
Kudos to Bronx Colors for the great marketing strategy!

I understand the frustration some people have with this type of state paternalism, especially when the replacement is so markedly inferior, like CFLs in the early days or new gas cans.
I have to say the irony of the toilet water conservation legislation is not lost on me. It’s all the more necessary because government underprices water in so many locations.
Having said that, I dreaded getting a new low capacity toilet last year but it flushes like a champ.

It's not all about the state, light bulb/energy legislation is pushed hard by energy companies who find regulating consumption to be more profitable than expanding infrastructure. The greens have less to do with it than you might think.
Old style gas cans are still available here in local shops and on Amazon. Are other areas different?

We got two of those a few months back. Super low flow - like 1.1 gallon per flush. They work better than the units they replaced and the "comfort height" thing is really nice. Not expensive, either.

President Trump lashed out again at wind farms on Saturday, claiming that the production of wind turbines causes a large carbon footprint.
During a speech to the conservative student group Turning Point USA, Trump told attendees that he "never understood" the allure of wind power plants, according to a report from Mediaite.
“I never understood wind,” Trump said, according to Mediaite. “I know windmills very much, I have studied it better than anybody. I know it is very expensive. They are made in China and Germany mostly, very few made here, almost none, but they are manufactured, tremendous — if you are into this — tremendous fumes and gases are spewing into the atmosphere. You know we have a world, right?”
“So the world is tiny compared to the universe. So tremendous, tremendous amount of fumes and everything. You talk about the carbon footprint, fumes are spewing into the air, right spewing, whether it is China or Germany, is going into the air,” the president added.
