Carl Czerny: Rode Variations
Someone posted this on FB and thought some here would like to hear it. Czerny of course is best known for his hundreds of piano exercises, but I never knew this piece. It does have technical flourishes like the exercises, but also passages recalling Italian opera and some lovely quieter moments.

And of course we have Horowitz at the piano, so we can’t go wrong. Somewhere he said this was the recording where he was happiest with his playing!

As did I!

Outrage is warranted. But outrage unaccompanied by analysis is a danger in itself.
