Good thing I saw this thread, I almost posted a separate one!

This year's can be put in the worst costumes hall of fame. However, it was fun thinking it up and making it!

Can you guess? It's pretty easy compared to last year's.

I'm guessing Princess & the Pea, but I'm not quite getting the MarkB reference...

11 and 12 year old boys, so the costume has to be some combination of scary mask, black, and fake blood.

The Bean is on the left, his best friend on the right, another friend in the middle.

Now what did I come into this room for? Oh, never mind -- I'll just play the piano.

Nan, the Bean's mask is great!

One of our tricker-treaters had a scream mask that had blood running through. He had a hand pump that sent the blood moving through the mask. Yuck!

Elena, that costume is awesome!!!

Shiro,
What did Mr. SK think of Hallowe'en?

This was actually his second Halloween in the US, but last year we had only been here for 2 months and everything was so overwhelming for him, I don't think he really enjoyed anything for about 6 months, because everything was "work" in some way. This year he was able to notice halloween things around town, and of course he went and got a pumpkin without having to consult with me and did all of that. So first of all, he enjoyed the preparation much more that last year! And he liked greeting the tricker-treaters, even though we didn't have nearly enough visitors, and have all this left over candy now! Frowner Last year we ran out. I guess that's just how that goes.

P.S. Mr SK is even saying he'd like to dress up next Halloween! Considering how his first pumpkin carving efforts went, that's sometihng to look forward to!

Excellent! I'm so glad he enjoyed it!
Because my teaching partner also does ESL half time (and of course tells me lots of stories about her kids!), I've become much more aware of how exhausting being an immigrant can be. Even though Mr. SK has you to help make the experience easier, there are so many things that must just be overwhelming. I'm glad he's settling in and enjoying some of the things you didn't have in Japan! Smiler

SK, the mask is even more amazing when you see it from the side. It even scares adults! But the best thing about it is that while it cost as much as a whole costume, he's worn it for 3 years now.

And he actually wanted one of those blood pumping ones several years ago, but I thought they were too yucky, too.
