That was great! I really enjoyed the music and it does my heart good to see centenarians who are still active and doing things they love.

Unfortunately I missed an opportunity to hear this lady play this past Monday at the senior center in my town.

Same person, when she was 88 years old, in an international collaborative concert setting playing the same piece:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YdV0huMjRzo

In the interview, she says she re-arranged that piece (originally a violin concerto) for piano solo herself, and that the piece has been with her for over 60 years. Too bad YouTube seems to only have videos of her playing that one piece, which makes her look like a one hit wonder. Shrug

She passed away on 2019 April 20.

Nice post. That's one of my life goals--I will never play as beautifully as she did, but I'd be happy to be playing at all until the very end.

Arthritis is starting to creep into my playing a bit. Playing helps keep the range of motion, but I notice that my "span" isn't as wide until I've been playing for about 15 minutes or so. I've started playing a lot more Scarlatti/Hayden etc.

There are some real gems out there. I'm not at home but if I remember I'll try to look up my latest obsession sonata (Scarlatti) and post a link here.

Found it! It's just such a happy piece. (No, I don't play it that fast, but getting there.)
