Vaccine Date Booked

Next Tuesday (March 9). Moderna.

I'm in "1C," which won't start in Virginia for some time as they churn through 1B. I miss 1B status because I'm a few months too young.

But one of our local hospital systems (Riverside) decided to help out the local public health clinics. They vaccinated the staff of those clinics several months ago in the initial wave, along with their own hospital employees. That's when my physician spouse got the shot (Pfizer). They've just said they'll start vaccinating other family members of clinic personnel, so that includes me. I would appear to be jumping the queue by a month or two.

That’s great. Apparently our governor has just opened things up for those 60 and over, though our health department isn’t getting a ton of vaccines yet. But hopefully this means we can go soon than we thought.

Why open things up if the vaccine isn't yet available? That just strikes me as a formula for getting people pissed off at you. Sort of like the airline desk that tells you your flight is delayed by 15 minutes, then 30 more minutes, then an hour, and finally they do what you knew they would do ... they cancel and piss everyone off who could have been making other arrangements while the airline teased you every half hour or so.

Our uni just emailed us saying that 1b can start signing up for appts next week, but the appt apps for local pharmacies etc. state specifically "K-12" where they mention teachers.

So now I'm in an email argument with someone in the university's covid team about whether yesterday's email was misleading and whether university officials should either send a different email or else take it upon themselves to contact local pharmacies and advocate for including faculty like they are supposed it...

Are you classified as 1B in SC? In Virginia, that's only "old people" (over 65) and people with underlying conditions. Teachers here are 1C, and it explicitly INCLUDES college faculty.

I got my second shot today and it was super quick.

They normally do 5000 per day but today they have only enough vaccine for 1500.

Not as well as I did after the first shot. That one gave me a little arm pain but that was it.

No arm pain today, but I'm pretty tired and a little achy. Kind of like I would feel if I were coming down with the flu.
