The Deviant’s War
Interesting new history of the ‘pre-Stonewall’ gay rights movement.

Looks like an interesting read.

Kameny was 12 years older.
Years later it was common to hear, "Remember when you thought you were the only one?" from gay men I met
Nwws of gay life was limited to my older brother and a friend laughing about Blue Boy magazine one evening.
Wonder whether news of Kameny's activism would have made a difference in my life.
I never saw or read a bit of coverage of the activism.
I do recall a man had to leave the White House staff because it was disclosed that he was a homosexual. I asked my mother why he had to leave. She said it was because he was open to blackmail.

Well, the movement didn't begin with Stonewall.

Well yeah. But we rarely hear names from before then.

I hadn't heard of Frank Kameny, for example. Granted I've not studied this particular topic but I've read more US history than most.
