Graupel aka grappel is not corn snow. Corn snow does not fall it is formed when snow on the ground is repeatedly freezing and thawing.
The deeper the better.
Corn snow is the most fantastic thing in the universe to ski. The feeling cannot be equaled with clothes on. Powder hides its face when compared to corn snow.
Corn snow occurs in the spring during freeze/thaw cycles.
Corn snow is short lived. A hard freeze will make it a surface that teaches skiers to keep their clothes on. A guy skiing in boxers will learn what abrasion means when he looks like he slid down a street if he falls.
Enough of my rhapsodizing.

I know that, and I frankly feel a bit cheated.

But we’re supposed to get some 6” of snow tonight. We’ve been watching snow porn on TV all afternoon. I’m excited! ThumbsUp

13” of snow fell overnight. Right now the wind is blowing it off of roofs.

Someone shoveled my driveway and sidewalk this morning. I wonder who it was?

That's a respectable snowfall total.

Time to build a snowman.

Seriously? Maybe you have an HOA that does it, or an extremely friendly neighbor. Either way, how wonderful!

I don’t think the HOA does it because my neighbor gave me the name of the guy she uses. That said, I hope whoever it is comes back because we got more snow and the wind blew everything around such that you’d never know anything was shoveled.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to get up from my sickbed, dress in layers and roll the trash barrels out to the tree lawn.

Midwestern folks tend to be helpful.

Especially guys that got new snowblowers and are having a good time feeling neighborly and battling the elements!
