For those who are deaf or hard of hearing, communicating while the other person is wearing a face mask, can prove to be extremely difficult. People who rely on lip-reading while talking lose the opportunity to do so unless the mask allows seeing the lips of the person doing the talking. For this reason, a UK-based paramedic Danny Hughes shared a PSA on how to facilitate communication with patients and users of NHS services who lip-read.

The video almost instantly went viral after first being shared on Twitter last week. On Reddit, the paramedic’s message gained over 117k likes with people praising Danny for the ingenious yet very simple and easy-to-implement idea. ...

He suggested using voice-to-text apps while communicating

I have a Deaf colleague (well, several, but one person in particular is someone I normally interact with a lot and his office is next to mine). I've been wanting to ask him what he thinks about the push for masking, but also have been sort of hesitating, I guess because I don't want to put him on the spot.... Maybe I'll email him...

Both of those are super.
I forgot how much I rely on lip reading with Bob and many others.
Some speak clearly enough that I can understand them when they are wearing a mask, most do not.

Get that app. Chances are it will be handy sooner or later.
