I was fascinated by this article (Thanks, wtg!), especially the refutation of the "critical window" hypothesis of language learning (even though I still wonder how really fluent the adult acquirers are. There ARE measures).

Wish there had been a date on the article, though, and that the Polyglot Gathering link hadn't been broken (seems spelling it out rather than trying to click the link does work).

I certainly agree that mastering spoken languages (emphasis on speech) borrows much from acting techniques. (There are different sets of multilinguals who only work with written languages, especially in reading).

ThumbsUp

(Also, although I really like the articles they find on Get Pocket, I wish they would include the original date of publication. I always end up doing a good search to find the year...)

I think they always include the original pub information at the bottom of the page.

“... we are organizing this year instead an online version of the Polyglot Gathering: Polyglot Gathering Online: 29-31 May 2020.“

It’s happening now!

40€ per head, ticket price the online gathering this year also good for the in-person gathering next year.

IMO multi-instrumentalists are similar to polyglots.
