It's too soon to buy and we probably wouldn't get it in this market anyway, but this place ticks all the boxes and is close to the kids. Way too big, but at the price I might not care:

Maple Ave, Sheffield Lake

Looks really nice and it does seem a steal at that price. Looking at Google Maps Street View the neighborhood looks nicely maintained.

Plus you're just around the corner from

Miller Road Park

Wow, looks so spacious! All the rooms seem very big, and the back yard etc.

Very nice!

Recently sold homes. Seems to be an area of modestly priced homes. Unless you're the million dollar mansion on the lake.

At that price I'd be looking closely for the problem. Even before the market heated up that would be a steal if all was good.

I thought the same until I looked at the recently sold homes.

Even compared to them that house should be priced higher. At least $300K

It could be priced this way to incite a bidding war. I'm seeing a lot of that. The below market listing price gets buyers all excited and then the offers come in way over the actual market value.

Nice house. If houses like that really are being sold for prices like that, maybe I'd consider retirement in Ohio too.

I suspect even if there are problems, those would be smaller for Steve just because Steve is a lot better at construction and repairs than most people.

Lots of things I like about that property, though I would hesitate to retire to it because the yard looks huge ... going to take a lot of time and energy to maintain the yard. Gardening and planting vegetables and flowers are one thing, but mowing and raking that huge yard week after week and season after season ain’t quite how I picture “retirement.” At least got to see if yard maintenance can be outsourced in that area.

That's what yard services are for. But yeah, it's a very large yard. I'd be tempted to turn it into an urban truck farm.

It’s been my experience, that when you’re looking for a house, every house will seem either too big or too small. Figure out how much square footage you need as a minimum.

It’s a nice looking house dominated by it garage. The garage on the right looks big enough to park a bulldozer or mobile home in. Maybe there’s even a hydraulic jack in there to lift a car up for servicing. The asking price might be low for a reason. Check google maps to see what’s located around the property. There might be something objectionable located adjacent to the house like railroad tracks (train noise), a fire station (sirens), flooding problems, etc.

Or a travel trailer. I have one of those and it would be great to have a place to store it in the winter! ThumbsUp
