If you have not visited The Girl and the Goat on W Randolph, you should. We ate there last night and it was a revelation. Stephanie Izard is an alchemist of flavors and textures that are both surprising combinations and beyond delicious. Braised beef short ribs with a salted caramel sauce and different pickled vegetables... sounds awful, tastes amazing.
The place is not terribly expensive and very fun. Dishes are small plates to share - mostly $11-19 but are generous portions.

We didn’t make it to The Girl and the Goat last time we were there, but went to the nearby Little Goat Diner (by the same chef). It was SO GOOD! If you visit Chicago and can’t get a reservation at Girl and the Goat (which happened to us) or you just want a more casual meal, check it out!
