Maybe half the population wakes up on January 1st and wants to get rid of stuff, and the other half is looking for bargains.

I've had a bunch of stuff on CL for a while, and suddenly there is interest in our junk. Sold two area rugs and a set of china today. Woo-hoo!

And somebody is asking about a pair of lamps that I've had out there forever.

Post your decluttering successes here to provide encouragement to all!

Congratulations! ThumbsUp

The wind blew the door off the second shed (more of a cupboard) I keep in the side yard for extra yard tools. I was going to put it back on but instead I decided to cut down on the number of duplicate tools I have and get rid of the second shed altogether.

I listed the yard tools for free on Craigslist and they were gone in an hour. The guy even took the shed. ThumbsUp

Craigslist is great for disposing of things. We may have a couple garage sales but they are generally more trouble than they are worth.

Yea, I agree about garage sales. They can be a good way to get rid of "smalls" that might not sell easily on craigslist. But they are a lot of work on a dollars earned per hour basis....

That said, I have had good luck with advertising garage sales on CL. I set up the garage sale, take photos, and create a list of the major items (with prices) that we'll be selling.

Last time we had a garage sale we put up signs in the neighborhood the day of the sale and also put up a CL listing about a week before the sale. The people who bought the most stuff were the ones that saw our CL ad. They either saw something in particular they were interested in or could tell that we had a lot of clean well-priced items available and they might find a nice bargain.

Moving this spring from a 4br suburban home to a large 1br condo in the city...

Lots gone already, with a steady stream of things listed on facebook marketplace.

Our pre-lit xmas tree was the most recent thing sold.

Yeah, that's my impression as well. You put out a $50 item for $3 and someone tries to chisel you down to $1.50.
