Today I got Wordle in 3 (yesterday in 2!) and Spanish wordle in 3 by guessing the letters in the third word. As in, plugging in letters until I won. I tried that yesterday but kept hitting the wrong word and ran out of turns!

Yes, I’ve been playing Thakkar’s archive for a week now. Trying to only play a couple per day. I’m at 16.

There are apparently a bunch of knock-offs now.

There is wordlegame.org which lets you play an infinite number of games and also choose how long the words are from 4 to 11 letters. I tried 8. It was brutal. The 5-letter words seem to be about 6th grade vocabulary.

It claims that soon it will also have Polish and Russian. Боже мой!

Once a day is plenty for me. I’m in a friendly competition with my friend in Tucson.

Someone once gave me a Russian scrabble version and I confess it wasn't used even once! Red Face

My high school Russian teacher had one of those in the back of the classroom. We tried once or twice. We only ever got three- or at most four-letter words. And helped each other a lot just to get those.

NYT has bought Wordle for “low seven figures”

. It will remain free to play for now.

But wait!!!

quote:
Users lamenting online word game Wordle’s decision to sell out to The New York Times this week may have at least one way to preserve the original game’s free, anti-money leaching spirit. Since Wordle runs in a browser, all of the game’s code is saved as plaintext on the Wordle website. That means users interested in preserving the pre-cash grab version can simply right-click in their browser and save Wordle as an HTML file on their desktop. Users can then play the original file offline.

Simply visit Wordle’s website (https://www.powerlanguage.co.uk/wordle/), right-click on the page (or use a drop-down menu depending on your browser), choose “save page as a webpage,” and save it to your desktop. You should then see an HTML file on your desktop as well as a folder that’s labeled “wordle_files.” Clicking on the HTML file should open the game in your browser, even if you’re offline.
