To say he didn't have the common touch as his blood relation Diana Spencer did would be an understatement.

Not his finest moment for sure.

I'm going to try to connect Winston Churchill and Diana Spencer through their shared genealogy.

I'm going to do this off the cuff and using Wikipedia as my source.

Please don't sue me for the low quality of my post. Genealogy isn't a talent of mine and Wikipedia is a convenient but lousy source.

That's it. He's descended from the dukes of Marbourough. She's descended from the earls of Spencer.

Here's when the name change happened. My understanding is
Spencer would have been added in the usual case to honor Charles Spencer.

Yet, this is clearly an addition of the name Churchill because it couldn't have been used otherwise.

I don't doubt there were people of
conscience in the government who made their views known but it's hard to imagine Churchill's views weren't typical of the ruling class.
