A little peppermint essential oil will do the trick.

Sounds like one step removed from snake oil.

Was there a clinical trial w/ control group?

Howz your German?

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/27106030/

related...the first one looked at intranasal application and the second one was for tension rather than migraine headache....

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/8805113/

But it doesn't seem to help everybody....

Nothing really worked (and I tried every snake oil thing I found) until one doc had me try Rizatriptan at the first hint of onset. It has worked for me; I feel like I haven't lost any days to a headache in years!

My German is non-existent... But those abstracts do suggest keeping an eye out.... The trouble most (all?) migraine remedies is that there's no 100% reduction in migraines, it's always something much less definitive, and the migraines don't seem to disappear completely.
:/

My sister-in-law started getting botox injections for migraine (the shots go in the top of your headache, multiple sticks in your scalp). They seem to help, but in the time between the shots wearing off and her going in for another round, she seems to get even worse migraines than she did before starting the botox. Frowner

Riztriptan is what I take. It’s been life changing. If I let the migraine get too bad before I take it, I usually have to lay down and cover my eyes for 1/2 hour to 45 minutes (if I can just drift off to sleep for 5 minutes, it helps). Usually works in an hour. And if I take it at the first sign, it often just goes away without closing my eyes.

After trying the other triptans, I settled on eletriptan (Relpax).

But it's not perfect. Even when I can stop the migraine pain, I usually have a "migraine hangover" which feels like all the other bits of the migraine, minus the pain.

And sometimes it doesn't work and I have lie down in dark room with ice on my head.

But interestingly enough, I'm not a candidate for the botox treatment, which include the criterion of 15 migraines (or else migraine medication uses) a month.

I "only" have between 4 and 8 migraine medication-use days a month.

-_-

SK Frowner Lately (stress of holidays and aging parents) I’ve been getting them weekly, but usually I only get them once or twice a month. This summer I managed almost two months without one.
