I remember clickdeath.

I never experienced it until I downloaded a utility that was supposed to be able to prevent it or recover disks that got messed up. As soon as I loaded the utility, my drive started clicking. Meethinks I may haz been duped. I uninstalled the utility and managed to get a replacement drive under warranty, but I don't remember if I ever used the replacement. Years later when I was moving offices, I found it in the original box under my desk.
