It's unusual for a late millennial to commit a pocket dial. They're too handy with their phones. So the fact that I just got two pocket dials from Muffin indicates a laser focus on something that is not a phone. In this case, it was work.

I can't remember if I said anything here, but Muffin landed a dream job right before school started--a twenty-minute walk from home, both kindergarten classroom and ELL (English language learners) responsibilities, and in the New York school system instead of a charter.

So imagine what I just heard during those accidental phone calls--Muffin's teacher voice tenderly talking to 5-year-olds. It brought tears to my eyes.

I'm struggling a bit with the blues lately, for various reasons that have little to do with my own very comfortable life and charming husband, and this was a mood-lifter that I really needed.

Like an unexpected beam of sunshine on a cloudy day.

Thanks for sharing that happy moment.

Around here we call that a butt dial…didn’t know there was a more polite term!

Lovely story about the eavesdropping though! ThumbsUp

Thanks, y'all!

Just got a text from Muffin, replying to my text that there had been a pocket dial situation that allowed me to eavesdrop.

It was:

"Was I yelling?"

ROTFLMAO

I said something about a lovely "teacher voice" and got back, "I needed to hear that today."

Why don't we have a heart emoji on this board?

Very nice. Glad you feel better.

I thought the heartwarming message was about a

It happened again. Here's what I heard.

Unintelligible little voice: Mumble mumble mumble.

Muffin: Let me help you up.

Unintelligible little voice, perhaps a different one: Mumble mumble mumble.

Muffin: I know you don't have a cat.

I just want to go to Queens and be a fly on the wall.

My first thought was “with my luck I would have been yelling”. Big Grin Not that I’m really a yeller, but there’s only so many times one can say “please stop climbing that bookcase” before it stops sounding so sweet!

I thought of you, dol, and hoped you'd see this post.

I know that I'm glad butt dialing wasn't possible when I was the mom of little kids.
