Yesterday, I was reviewed in the Washington Post.

This is by far the most prominent publication that has ever reviewed my work. Before this, I guess my most prominent reviews were in industry publications like Publishers Weekly, with newspaper attention topping out with some scattered reviews in newspapers like Dallas Morning News and the New Orleans Times-Picayune, none of them lately. (And, make no mistake, I was thrilled to get those.)

This book has already gotten a review in a major industry publication that the previous one didn't get (Library Journal) and a more-positive-than-last-time review in a specialty publication that did review the last one (Historical Novel Review), but this WaPo thing is next-level stuff. I'm right there next to Isabel Allende. And they call the book "cinematic." (Somebody please tell Hollywood.)

It's all especially surreal for the second book in a series, when one has more reason to hope for attention for a first book.

Not gonna lie. This really feels good.

Thanks, y'all

LOL, Ax, I thought I posted the link. I guess I was a little dazed.

pique, it was definitely the new publisher. My publicist apparently successfully pitched the book for this spotlight article.

Yes, Ron, there's a second book. It has the excellent-for-a-WWII-book pub date of June 6, D-Day. This feature appears slanted for Memorial Day, so I guess that makes an early June pub date even better!

Mary Anna, this is so wonderful. A combination of your talent for storytelling, your tenacity and hard work, a great publicist, and a little bit of luck, too. But it all started with YOU.

Congratulations! I hope they make movies.
