Here are some close up photos.

The Spalted Maple

The Bocote wood model

I had never heard of Bocote before so I googled it.

quote:
Bocote is an exotic wood native to Mexico, Central America, and the West Indies. It features a wide range of grain patterns from straight to wild, with curved lines and swirls. The color ranges from golden brown to tan to golden yellow. It is a hard, heavy, and dense wood, strong and stiff, with a medium texture. Mainly used for custom pool cues, cabinetry, veneer, furniture, inlays, knife handles, and pens. It polishes well with wax or polyurethane, and will take a moderately high natural gloss.

A very impressive haul of instruments. I'm looking forward to a WTF party where we can hear some of them.

So is a concert uke larger than a regular uke?

I love the bocote one! I mean, they all look amazing.

Good instruments are so beautiful!

There are several different sizes, which I only know because the uke-playing daughter wanted a second one.

After my earlier post I realized that I have a table with a top of spalted maple.
In this place it is the dining table, the kitchen table and the breakfast table and a desk. Smiler

Well, my banjo is on it's way.

The banjo was a bargain, thanks to Mark.

The shipping was eye-watering. It would have cost only a few bucks more to fly there myself and pick it up.
