Yikes! That last pic is beautiful, but ice storms are just horrible!

Hope it ends without much more disruption.

How are things your way, WTG?

Yes, the ice looks so beautiful. Also scares the hell out of me as a gardener; it has the potential to do so much damage.

After our temps went up a little, during the evening the ice on plants melted and things improved. Just cold and damp, with winds on the way later.

Folks just a little to the north and northwest are still recovering; lots of trees down with associated power outages.

https://www.comed.com/Outages/...Pages/OutageMap.aspx

When I looked at the outage map in detail, I see that 10 homes that are a couple of blocks away from me still don't have power.

I wonder how markj is doing...

Mother Nature has the last laugh. We’re snowed in. 10.8” at the airport (but it’s open).

Portland doesn’t have dedicated snow plows because we don’t get much snow; we have plows that get attached to other trucks.

I’m staying home today.

Great timing for a move on your part. I'm sure you've seen what's happening in California...

This is about a mile from my house. I'm sure AM will recognize the stretch of I-5.

I hope this link works... I'm not sure how to link to an Instagram account.

Edit: it looks like the link won't work by clicking. If you copy this into your browser, it might.

Yes, that was a bad commute home for many. Lots of abandoned cars on the freeways. Kids stuck on a bus on the freeway for hours; they eventually had parents come walk them to a school family’s house.

We really don’t do well with snow.

We were in LA overnight Friday night. Pounding heavy rain, but not that cold and didn't see any snow.

Home now and it's in the 40s, sunny, and very icy out. Off to dump carloads of wet shavings on the ice so I can let the horses out of barn jail.

Steve,
I will put something together for my friends here. Smiler

I deliberately didn't post anything on FB because I live in a bitterly cold climate and posting warm weather vacations just pisses off the neighbors.

I especially didn't want to make the neighbor horse/house-sitting jealous.

Hell, I just made my sports-med doc jealous. I saw him for a procedure this afternoon and he bounces in-- "are you sick of winter yet?"

I mentioned I was just back from three weeks in CR and got the kind of reaction you might expect from someone who has been tied down to arctic winter over the same period. (He forgot I had told him all about it just before we left.)
