Wow, what a life he had. I knew he had been interned in WWII, but I'd thought it was because he was in the French resistance. I didn't know he was sent to Auschwitz at 16, where the rest of his family was murdered.

I watched him on Hogan's Heroes, of course, but he was also on Days of Our Lives when I was watching it. Watching someone on the small screen daily makes you feel like you know them a little bit in a strange way.

RIP.
