Mixers, too.

Kitchen-Aid, when it was owned by Hobart, built them like tanks.

Then, when they weren't owned by Hobart any more, they switched to plastic gears. Which stripped under load.

So they moved back to metal gears. Thin metal gears. That bent under load.

When I was looking into a mixer, I got a Breville. They seem to make better products. It held up well until Mary Anna and I combined households, and then the idea of replacing her older Kitchen-Aid filled her with such horror that I put the Breville in the attic, until it was time to pass it on to Rebecca.
