I guess that it’s OK as long as you tell people advance. I’m a butt-slapper, by the way…

Not a butt-groper?

No, he’s not. I would have noticed him at the meetings by now.

I can easily picture a well-meaning guy trying to start a movement for hugging instead of handshakes (maybe one who's lived overseas for a while, in a country where such physical warmth is commonplace).

After all, we live in a country where loneliness and lack of physical contact are such severe problems well-paid professional huggers/cuddlers (not sexual) are in business.

When I was in college, my standard thing with my girlfriend was a long hug and a little butt squeeze.

On my last day with my benevolent employer, one of the women with whom I had worked for a couple years helped me carry my stuff down to my car. She turned to give me a long hug. I gave her a long hug and, without thinking, gave her a little butt squeeze.

Ooops.

It took me a day or two to find her home phone number so I could call and apologize.

I wouldn’t worry about it. I did the same thing the last time I saw Jon, and he has apparently forgotten all about it…

I don’t like hugging. Why would I wish to press my body against someone who is not an intimate?

I have to say this is becoming the new norm...I have a vendor (she is now a friend so I do hug her, but still)...

Most of my business contacts are men of a different culture who would NEVER hug a woman they do not know..I am grateful for that.

But in personal space...I recently met a lovely lady at a neighborhood party..She was told about my house, she is thinking of moving into the neighborhood. I offered to give her a house tour and it ended in a hug..I had known her for about 2 hours...

I am not sure..Some folks balk when I offer a hand for a handshake...

I think there needs to be an update on this book for personal contact.. Kiss, Bow or Shake Hands

No. That was at the company for which I worked when I was in college. Big Blue.
