It’s a nice story, and I admire her spunk, but I have to wonder about a woman who has lived 90 years without making a single friend who would drive her 3 miles for a Covid shot.

Maybe all of her "friends" are dead, or unable to drive.

Definitely could be that. I also know folks in that age bracket who fiercely try to maintain their independence and think that asking for help is a sign of weakness. They just go it alone.

From what the article described, sounds like she's been taking all precautions for the last year. She also might not have wanted to be in a car with someone because of the risk of catching the virus from whoever gave her a ride.
