Not sure what all can be done (refer second link about the horrors the most impoverished suffer in the most heat-affected countries - Gulf States most described. (Only the - majority - lowest class/caste are really suffering, of course. So far.)

It does look like Canada and Russia are going to best withstand the escalating heat coming. Not forever but in this century.)

Rich countries will compensate most suffering

Heat will change us - shocking narratives about the suffering adaptations going on now among the poor

One of the things that struck me most, even after reading the nightmare adaptations laborers are already living (e.g., working at night to reduce heat exposure, hospitals filling up with heat injured people) was how the women are being treated.

In one family narrative, the matriarch was forced (she pleaded off to no avail) to cook an immense holiday meal even though she had to work in one non-air-conditioned room and in the daytime (hottest and at the hottest activity).

Most maddeningly, they are forced to continue to wear those horrific hijabs, body covering and BLACK!

(Jut when you think things can't get worse...)

Having grown up in a place that gets hot, a lot of this rings true--but the projected heat (and actual heat last summer) is at a whole other level.

What's not included in that NYT article ("heat will change us") is the environmental effect of the heat increase - drought, reduction/relocation of fishing areas, famine, lack of fresh water.

Cheery topic!

If the rich countries don't take significant action now, who cares how much money they send to poorer countries. If there's no food, fresh water, ability to work, or ability to farm, who cares? Money can't help in that scenario. (full disclosure - I couldn't read the first link, but have been following it from other news sources)
