It's the end of the semester and I have a ton of grading to do so I found this amazing house:

Glass House for sale in Maryland

The Zillow listing has 100 photos, super gorgeous, but here's the outside:

The sellers/owners talk about it in this article.

I would love to stay there (at different points during the year to enjoy the change in the seasons) but definitely wouldn't want to live there!

I'd live in that house in a heartbeat. But ... I'd need the blackout curtains. The light would wake me up too early.

Not a great choice if you like to throw stones.

I love it. But then we have a lot of glass in my current home. If anyone is so hard up for entertainment that they have to look in, well, God bless their poor little soul. Who am I to deny them?

I love waking up to the morning light.

Is the stone silo / medieval keep structure just a housing for the spiral stair? That's what I'm guessing.

I'm guessing the stone silo is the secret elevator shaft to an underground bunker, since the glass house is not going to do well in most SHTF type doomsday scenarios.

There was a king who lived in a glass house. He collected thrones.
He collected to many that the piles of thrones fell and broke the glass.
People who live in glass houses should never stow thrones.

That's pretty much exactly what the owner said as well.

Yes, as per the owner.

Quirt, me too! The owner said there are blinds, although it wasn't clear if that was in all the rooms or not.

Another tidbit form the owner:
quote:
The average monthly electrical bill runs about $700, rising to as much as $1,100 a month, with an additional $800 a year for heating oil.

Wow!!

Still, I would love to be there are experience the changes in the seasons and just the amazing feeling of being *in* the forest.

Also, CHAS, Ole

Oooh, it has shades throughout, and you can tell Alexa to put them up or down!

Pretty.

If the scenery is that good year-round, I'd buy it.

And then I'd spend a fortune upgrading to triple-pane windows.

I've seen expensive houses in the Hamptons that are almost all glass. I guess they want to take in the bays and inlets. "Exposure" in every sense of the word.

Probably not going to win any awards for energy efficiency.

Or earthquake resistance for that matter.

Also wondering if humidifying the house might fog up the glass walls in the cold months.

Me too. The earlier the better. I am a complete morning person. The sun does not come up early where we live now and I hate that.
