It’s odd when Facebook says “wish XXX a happy birthday” and you know they’ve been dead for seven years.

Today’s is a sad case. Her husband worked for Marsh Mac and died on 9/11. She committed suicide 7 years ago. I wasn’t that close to them, usually saw them through friends but we did go out just the four of us a few months before he was killed.

She was a fantastic pianist and had an older Steinway grand.

As I recall, there used to be a way to get FB to remove the pages for people who have passed away, or change to some kind of legacy page. I can't imagine that the option has been removed, but who knows how to deal with it.

I found my late aunt's Facebook page after she passed. I thought it was inappropriate and creepy, TBH.

I stopped wishing people happy birthday on Facebook when I saw people mindlessly wishing a friend happy birthday several years after they died.

My mom's FB page is still up. She died in 2011. None of us kids want to take it down, so it was designated a "memorialized account". There are links at the top of her page to learn about how to do this.

So without getting creepy or maudlin, here's the link for anyone (Chas) that needs to do something similar.
