“I have been in close conversations with Aleksander Vučić,” Djokovic told officials. “We discuss many things but Australia only need concern themselves of this: the Serbian people are willing to spill our blood over this. They must be careful on Monday, because otherwise war will follow on Tuesday.”

Tennis star Novak Djokovic on Monday won a court battle to stay in Australia to play in the Australian Open despite being unvaccinated against COVID-19, but the government threatened to cancel his visa a second time.

Federal Circuit Court Judge Anthony Kelly reinstated Djokovic's visa, which was canceled after his arrival last week because officials decided he didn't meet the criteria for an exemption to an entry requirement that all non-citizens be fully vaccinated.

The judge also ordered the government to release Djokovic within 30 minutes from a Melbourne quarantine hotel where he had spent the previous four nights.

Government lawyer Christopher Tran told the judge after the ruling that the minister for Immigration, Citizenship, Migrant Services and Multicultural Affairs, Alex Hawke, "will consider whether to exercise a personal power of cancellation.''

Hawke was still considering whether to cancel Djokovic's visa, a spokesman said later on Monday.

"Following today's Federal Circuit and Family Court determination on a procedural ground, it remains within Immigration Minister Hawke's discretion to consider canceling Mr. Djokovic's visa under his personal power of cancellation within section 133C(3) of the Migration Act," the spokesman said, in the first comments from the minister's office after the court quashed an earlier visa cancellation.

"The Minister is currently considering the matter and the process remains ongoing."

And a Zoom bomber...

Due to coronavirus restrictions, the hearing was conducted virtually, through audiovisual links between the judge's chambers and lawyers for the government and Djokovic.

Minutes before proceedings were due to begin, journalists clicked on a just-expired video link supplied by the court, unaware that the court had replaced it with an updated version. Expecting to see proceedings in real time, they were instead confronted with pornographic images.

I watched much of the hearing. Very odd.

He basically got off on a technicality. Trouble is, he is apparently a lying snake, and is becoming in tangled in his web of lies. Most people expect him to be deported before the weekend.

I could explain why in excruciating detail, but I say he basically bought a fake positive Covid test in his country of Serbia.

Alas, it is very hard to commit a crime without the cyber warriors catching you. It appears that the Covid QR code for his December 16 positive test is *after* the QR code for his negative December 22 test (the one he needed to prove he was Covid free).

Also, he claims he was tested on Dec. 16, but he didn't see the results until *after* he had exposed all of those kids to Covid on Dec. 17.

Well . . . He took the test around 11 am on Dec. 16. The results were sent to him by text and email on Dec. 16 at about 8 p.m.

Is it believable that he was not psycho-refreshing his phone, desperately hoping the result would be positive so he could play the Australian Open? Isn't it pretty easy to prove whether someone did or did not use their phone at all for 18 hours?

He's horrible. One thing that really chaps my hide is when rich people act like the rules do not apply to them. There is at least one other top player who sat out the Australian because he refuses to be vaxed. OK, that's his choice. But to fake a positive test to get around the rules?

Djokovic needs to go.

Novak Djokovic's final bid to avoid deportation and play in the Australian Open despite being unvaccinated against COVID-19 ended Sunday when a court unanimously dismissed the No. 1-ranked tennis player's challenge of a government minister's decision to cancel his visa.

Djokovic said he was "extremely disappointed" by the ruling but respected it. He released a statement shortly after three Federal Court judges unanimously upheld a decision made Friday by Immigration Minister Alex Hawke to cancel Djokovic's visa on public interest grounds because he is not vaccinated.

Djokovic, 34, has won a record nine Australian Open titles, including three in a row, but this time won't get the chance to try. Hawke confirmed Sunday that Djokovic "has now departed Australia."

A masked Djokovic was photographed in a Melbourne airport lounge with two government officials in black uniforms. He left at approximately 11 p.m. local time on an Emirates flight to Dubai, the same United Arab Emirates city he flew to Australia from.

It’s a tough tennis tournament when you are eliminated from competition for missing only two shots.
