While You Were Sleeping (Sandra Bullock, Bill Pullman) Two Weeks Notice (Sandra Bullock, Hugh Grant) Holiday (Cary Grant/Katherine Hepburn) To Catch a Thief (Cary Grant/Grace Kelly) Bell, Book, and Candle (Jimmy Stewart, Kim Novak, Jack Lemmon, Ernie Kovacs) Hopscotch (Walter Matthau, Glenda Jackson, Herbert Lom, Ned Beatty, Sam Waterston)) Topkapi (Maximilian Schell, Melina Mercouri, Peter Ustinov) The Benny Goodman Story (Steve Allen, Donna Reed) As Time Goes By (British comedy series - Judi Dench) Silk Stockings (Fred Astaire, Cyd Charisse) A&E Nero Wolfe series (Maury Chaykin as Wolfe, Timothy Hutton as Archie) The Pink Panther (Peter Sellers, David Niven) The Producers (either one, though I'm a Zero Mostel/Gene Wilder fan myself) Not sure how many are available on Netflix. Most not free on Amazon, except To Catch a Thief. edit: I looked up Hopscotch, and it seems to be available via a 7 day trial of Shout! Factory TV. If you've never seen it, it's a *great* flick. Shout also has an Ernie Kovacs collection. As Time Goes By is available on BritBox through Amazon, another free trial thing.

this isn’t a movie, but it’s a Netflix show - Ghost town Gold Kind of like American pickers, only in old mining camps, and towns all around the west, many places near where we’ve lived. Plus they go hunting in old attics and basements and barns and they find really *cool* stuff.

It only got 2 1/2 stars on Rotten Tomatoes.  I am astounded at how many terrible movies there are. I have a really hard time finding things to like on Netflix and Amazon Prime.

Hector and the Search for Happiness - Loved this movie..Looks like it is on Amazon Prime to rent. The Repair Shop - a Brit TV Show on Netflix..very feel good, and the treasures brought in to be fixed are fascinating. Grand Design - Netlflix and some older episodes can be found on Youtube. Folks are followed building custom homes that are like no other, some finish, some do not. Bread and Tulips - an Italian romantic comedy that is so charming. I just love this movie. Moonrise Kingdom -

I can generate tons of examples of shows and movies that suit my taste, I just don't know whether they'd suit everyone else's. Not all of them would be happy, though. And I have the ability to rewatch favorites. But start with The Princess Bride. Always start with The Princess Bride. Wait a minute, is this a kissing movie? | |||

I don't have Netflix, but do watch Amazon prime stuff. The latest series move it liked... Patrick MELROSE I have also tried several comedians. Most I don't like But an older speaker who I enjoyed is Jeanne Robertson. Positive and for the most part enjoyable and often funny.

Thank you! I just (finally) finished Game of THrones - begun some time ago. But now I'm at a loss as how to get through my stairstepping and other times requiring distraction. (As an aside, I could NOT believe the detailed, drawn-out scene of slit throats and more. WHO are such movies made for? I just shut my eyes until the gurgling stopped and hoped I hadb't missed anything vital.)

Wow! Here we DO diverge, pique. I was genuinely depressed by the portrayal of today's HS kids as THAT informed about/active in sex. I mean, there's sex and there's sex. How real is that degree of casualness at that age?

Not sure if it really qualifies as “happy”, but I’m a huge fan of anything Wallace and Gromit and other Aardman things, especially Creature Comforts.
