Aspirin may decrease ICU admission and death in COVID-19 patients

In a new study, low dose aspirin reduced risk of mechanical ventilation, ICU admission and in-hospital mortality by over 40 percent each.

Not too surprising per se since the same is true of patients taking blood thinners (they're prescribed as soon as they're hospitalized with COVID if they weren't already on one).

After all, one of THE worst mechanisms of harm caused by COVID appears to be via blood clots, micro and larger.

Not that this observation compares various approaches to anticoagulant therapy, in terms of just how much they make a difference compared to one another ( percentage-wise).

81 mg. Basically a quarter of a regular tablet. It's what a lot of people take on a daily basis to help prevent heart attack and stroke. It thins the blood a little (prevents clots).

It's not something to be taken lightly, even at a small dose. It does increase bleeding risk.

A couple family members have had bleeding issues on this regimen. I know one had to stop; I can’t remember if the other stopped (and I live with him!)
