Catching up after 2+ weeks of being away.

WTG, those rings are beautiful.

Daniel, I love the red spinel and the trilliant diamonds, but I don’t think I’d wear it a lot. Red is a color I have to plan.

The aquamarine? I think its subtlety means it goes with everything. And that emerald cut is so classic. I wants it. Feel free to send it to me!

I do have a new ring coming; just a wee bauble.

We celebrated our 40th anniversary yesterday, complete with vow renewal (just us, the kids, and the pastor). Mr. AM told me that he wanted to renew vows, 2 days before I left on my epic travels on August 27. I taught knitting on a cruise ship (Vogue Knitting Tours, on Norwegian), returned to NYC for a few days where Mr. AM met me for my birthday. Then he went home and I went to Maine to teach at an event there.

While we were in NYC, I wondered if the jeweler in the diamond district where we bought my anniversary ring 33 years ago still existed. Yes, now being run by his grandson. So we went there, had a chat, and ordered matching simple white gold bands with a tiny diamond in each. They’ll be here in a couple weeks. Not flashy, but just enough sentimentality.

Agreed, that is a beautiful ring WTG, lovely setting for the aquamarine stone.

I did indulge a couple of years ago, out of the blue simply fell for something while buying for my wife/children in Alnwick. Rubies, mother of pearl, 18k gold, only 'jewellery' I personally have other than gold rings and various watches.

I have this ring but paid only $540 for it.

I didn't think a Cartier ring would fit my person and my persona.

I was wrong.

Simple and classic.

The single diamond version is what our anniversary bands will look like, but a slightly larger diamond (3 to 5 pts).

They have jewelery you can choose by type, period, or creator.

I enjoy going there now and then.

Love the owl.

Talking of things being a bit pricey, grey seems very popular these days:

Or you could buy a £16 print

hysteric

(Bird motifs in jewelry always sell for $$. I love this owl but it's not how I'd spend 20k on jewelry if I had it to spend.)

I’m not a fan of the owl; it’s too much like the bug brooches I used to mock.

But someone will love it, somewhere!

I like it from all angles except the back. I think the mouse addition is creepy!

did it eat the mouse?!

I found the maker, Mousson. Check out this version of the owl, which I like better. Because it’s white gold and blue and black sapphires. Price on request!
