Wow. Poor Ibach has been totally exposed. Not only buck naked, but all her innards too. As my teenage daughter would say, TMI.
Actually, congrats. You must be in 7th heaven. So, when's the party? Any two piano duets up your sleeve?

G,
Well, you lied about the lovemaking, but I'll admit there's something sexy about those pics!

Oh wait...I was suppose to post over here...
C/P the piano looks lovely G- Are you planning on posting an MP3 of it so we can enjoy? It would be fun to hear the same piece on both the Grotrian (which I love BTW) and then on the Ibach (which I have never heard) Come to think of it, I bet most on this board or even PW have played an Ibach!

Well in fact I won't have a piano party this year. I need to pound those hammers in to submission. They are a bit too soft for me and I need to work out the best acoustical environment before I present her to the public (at her cotillion!)
For instance I just learned that placing a rug underneath her removed a harshness or distortion in the midrange when played loud. So I will need to settle in with her. Lilylady - I'm sorry but you are the strange one here - what could possibly NOT be sexy about an Ibach? I don't get it! BTW - something I will have to take a tape measurer to determine - it seems the piano is fairly petite compared to the Grotrian. I have to measure the height. The length is exactly 6' (183cm) but I forgot to measure how high and how tall the rim is. I'll get that over July 4th weekend. First piano get together will be here in NYC with the Grotrian then next year in Jerusalem, uh Block Island. (Upper west siders... and I'm not even Jewish!)

Sweet.
I love reading about these German beauties. Ibach (the real German one) is a superlative piano yet almost unheard of here in the states. A capstan for each damper? Heaven!!!!! Spoons too! Without capstans (as in most other pianos) you have to loosen that little screw to position the depth of the wire holding the damper in the hole then tighten the screw. But when tightening the screw the wire has a mind of its own and it not only changes depth but finds a way to rotate so it is no longer parallel to the strings and won't damp. Damper work is an art. Installing capstans there is brilliant. BTW here are a few pics of an Ibach I saw in NY:

Wow, what a stunning piano. I would love to hear it. I've never seen an Ibach, much less played one.
How exciting! |

Kenny, I remember that Ibach in New York at Beethoven's. It made quite an impression on me.

I'm trying to get my piano teacher to buy that Ibach! It would be the end of my marriage if I put that in my apartment. :-(

So the Ibach is different in that a channel is cut through down to the sound board at each hole. Don't know if they thought this improved flexibility or what... Bosey wood is nice and white isn't it? Looks also like solid wood not a laminate. Am I right?
