It's easy. Go to http://keepvid.com/ and copy/paste the youTube video address into the bar you'll see at the top of the screen. It will convert the link to a useable file for you, and give you the location where you can download it.

edit to add: You can also convert it to other file types, which is why I started using it in the first place.
