Over the past few weeks, I've been thinking of our departed member, Wacky Iraqi, the erstwhile Richard Hammond and how he affected our little online community. I knew he had a relatively rare form of cancer, and wanted to learn a little more about it, and what people like you and I could do about it. Google can sometimes be a bit to slog through, especially when dealing with medical conditions that everyone from the world's most respected authorities to the average patient wants to discuss.
Suddenly, though, out of the morass, I spotted an article published just today in a British newspaper about a young man who had recently succumbed to this very same cancer. He also decided in his last days to make his condition something from which others could learn, in what many might consider a truly altruistic gesture.
Thanks for posting that link, Matt. The word I always thought for Wacki was iconoclastic. We saw a part of him here. The article reflected some other parts. It's curious how we present ourselves in different contexts and situations. May he rest in peace.
