QL, i'm declaring you occupant of the monthly hotseat, subject to greater dissection, examination, and just plain old getting-to-know-you-ness than the average WTFer.

i'll begin the interrogation questions:

what does your name mean?

i see you've been around wtf since its inception; how far back did you go at the OCR?

what kind of piano do you have?

how long have you been playing

can you explain your choice of avatar?

that oughtta get things moving....

thanks in advance for accepting the mantle. Wink

here's some more:

what are you reading these days?

what's the best movie you've seen in the past year and what did you like about it?

what can you tell us about your family? children? partner?

how many u.s. states have you been to?

Good pick, PK. We'll just have to keep bumping this. QL, are you a boy or a girl? I probably should know that already, but you are somewhat of an enigma around here. Any chance we might get a picture?

I have to tell you, when Kenny got his kitten avatar, every time I saw it, I thought it was you. But, I doubt very much that you're actually a kitten.

What's up with your kitten with a machine gun avatar? Do you mean to be making a statement about violence? If so what is it?

Sorry everyone for taking so long to respond. I took a short vacation over the holiday weekend and I just got back. This topic was posted just after I had left.

Thank you pique for selecting me as the forum member of the month. As a low volume poster here, I thought I'd be one of the last people to ever be selected. I belong to many forums so I'm spread pretty thin across all the forums.

I don't have the time to answer all the questions now. I'll answer some now in reverse order. The rest will have to be tomorrow. It's because I currently don't own a PC.

daniel:

No statement about violence is to be insinuated by my avatar. It's just a cartoon. Don't read into it. I found the avatar somewhere on the internet. I thought it was cute and decided to use it as an avatar. I have a seal point siamese cat named "Lynx". Cats have their razor sharp claws; they don't need a machine gun.

kathy:

I'm a SWM. I'll see if I can post up a photo.

pique:

I try to check in here at least once a day on week days but usually not all on week ends especially during the summer.

apple:

It's pronounced "Kay Nack Lee Ack".

It looks like Kalaallisut (Greenlandic Inuit) to me. (Qaanaaq is the Kalaallisut name for Thule in Northwest Greenland.)

My user ID. comes from Qaanaaq, Greenland, THEE northern most town on Earth. It’s pronounced “kay nack”. I had an Arctic trip of a life time planned for it for awhile. To make a long story short, I had to postpone it and then the tour’s operator went out of business. I still intend to make the trip, hopefully next Spring.

I posted a little on the Piano World forums years ago. I don’t frequent it any more. My user ID. was “fr”.

I have a Yamaha P120 digital piano. Bought it a few years ago when they first debuted. I like the fact that it has multiple voices. I mostly use the grand, harpsichord, and organ.

Been playing the piano for about 9 years now.

As I said above, I have a seal point Siamese cat. I found the machine gun kitty avatar on the internet somewhere so I took it.

I’m currently reading “Les Miserables” by Victor Hugo. The Miserable Ones. Started reading it last Spring and still haven’t finished.

The best movie I saw in the last year was “Timecrimes”. It’s a Spanish movie subtitled in English. It’s about a man who winds up with a double when he accidentally travels back in time. You can follow this film unlike “Primer”, which is incomprehensible, another time travel movie.

I’m a SWM living in the Chicago area.

I’ve been to many states. I suppose I should answer which states I haven’t been to rather than the ones that I’ve been to. Haven’t been to the NW states, SE states with the exception of FL, the New England states, AK, and HI.

Hey Kaynack (I need that little phoenitic aid for the moment Wink, I'm sure glad you saw this thread. Big Grin It's nice to finally know how to pronounce your name.

So, is your Siamese a noisy one? And temperamental?

And what does the Liaaq part of your name mean?

What kind of music do you like to play?

kathyk:

Yes, my cat is loud. Siamese cats have elongated vocal cords and are quite loud. Because of this, they’re not for everyone. When they “cry”, it’s a loud, long, and incessant meow that you just can’t ignore. It's because they want something badly. As far as being temperamental, mine isn’t. They're pretty social and outgoing cats. Some people think that the Siamese are aloof and standoffish but I don’t think that’s true, at least in my experiences with them. Some people will ignore their cat so the cat ignores them and then say “See I told you so. Siamese cats are aloof”. In other words, their expectations become a self fulfilling prophesy. Concerning the cross-eyed defect, it’s been pretty well bred out. I guess I told you more than you want to know about Siamese cats.

Someone else on the internet has a user ID. of “Qaanaaq”. Forgot where I saw it. So I differentiated the name so I wouldn’t be confused with this other person. “Liaaq” doesn’t mean anything as far as I know.

I play classical, contemporary, and some blues music.
