Okay, a date has finally been set. Improviso and I cordially invite you all to a piano gathering at our home in the Richmond area on Saturday, August 9th, starting at 1 p.m.. Mary Anna and Muffin will be staying with us that weekend, while she is on tour promoting her book. This will be a terrific opportunity to meet the author, perhaps get an autographed copy of her new book and share some music and fellowship.

I have a Steinway L for you all to take turns playing, and maybe Improviso will chime in with his guitar for a duet.

We hope to see you here! Smiler

I'm in too. I'll see if I can twist Piano*Son's arm to join a bunch of dull adults.

P.S. Got an XBox there? Big Grin

Terrific! I look forward to meeting you and Piano Son. Um...no XBox, but would two lovely girls his age suffice? Maybe he would like to hang out with them, perhaps go ice skating?

We'll be there! I can probably bring my cello this time, since we'll be driving.

Oooooh, skating! Does he have to bring skates? He used to play hockey, and was a rather good skater. In-line hockey, not ice, but whenever he got on blades he did just fine. I think he'd have a blast.

Where is the rink?

Hmmm... We're going to be vacationing near Charleston ending that day. Wife and daughter may be flying home. The boys and I will be driving.

Put me/us down for a maybe.

It's the Richmond Ice Zone, and it is only 3 miles from my house. Skates are available for rent. Apparently around here, this is the "in" thing for kids to do. I'm sure he would have a great time if he likes to skate...not to mention that in August the cooler temperature in the rink would sure feel refreshing.

I'm rather clueless about how hard it is to transport an Xbox and attach it to someone else's TV without destroying either the TV or the Xbox. But if this is something that can be accomplished fairly easily, Muffin will be more than happy to bring her Xbox. Then Piano*Son can have two lovely companions and Rock Band, too!

You going to pack the drum set for Rock Band, MA? Big Grin

I wish I could make it, but we'll be on the other end of the country that weekend. We'll wave.

Dull adults huh? Piano*Son better practice hard between now and then because he never know who might show up and challenge him in a piano duel. Evil

Maybe--I think it disassembles, and we're driving. Muffin and I are girls, so we overpack, but there are only two of us. There should still be lots of room in the hatchback, especially since Muffin would leave a lot of nonessentials at home if it meant she had room for Rock Band.

Hey, the XBox quip was one of those semi-jokes that has enough basis in reality to be plausible!

I mentioned the 'dull adults' comment this morning and got a look that expressed something like, "Daaaad, you CAN actually take me out of the house these days." He can hold his own with an adult crowd.

I also mentioned the ice skating. A ninth grader's brain isn't hitting on all eight cylinders at 6:30 A.M. before school, but he did think that sounded fun.

Do the two young ladies skate?

P.S. LisztAddict: he doesn't play anything by Franz, so the duel would have to be on neutral turf! Wink

P.P.S. PianoAgain's reference to the cello reminds me. Hmmmm, maybe we'll bring the kid's horn along and I can resurrect a horn/piano duo we used to play!
